Your Wedding Morning

How the Day Unfolds

A typical Bengali wedding morning with me — from first brushstroke to shubho drishti.

5:00 AM

Bridal prep begins

Skincare, primer, base — the foundation of everything. I arrive before anyone else is awake.

6:30 AM

Eyes & brows

The most time-intensive part. Bengali bridal eyes need to be dramatic yet elegant — kajal-lined, gold-toned, with perfectly shaped brows.

7:15 AM

Lips, cheeks & finishing

Classic red lip, soft blush, highlight on the cheekbones. Setting spray to lock everything in.

7:30 AM

Chandan bindi & alta

Hand-applied chandan designs on the forehead. Traditional alta on hands and feet — the details that make a Bengali bride.

7:45 AM

Saree draping & final check

Banarasi saree draped in the traditional Bengali style. Final touch-ups, jewellery check, and you're ready.

8:00 AM

Shubho Drishti ready

You walk out looking like the most beautiful version of yourself. I stay on-site for touch-ups through the ceremony.

About Me

Moumita Chatterjee

Bengali Bridal Specialist · Born & Raised in Kolkata

I grew up watching my mashi apply alta on brides in our Bhowanipore neighbourhood. That's where my love for Bengali bridal artistry began — not in a classroom, but in a totto ghor filled with the smell of chandan and tuberose.

After training at Lakmé Academy and assisting senior artists for 3 years, I started my own studio in 2015. My focus has always been one thing: making Bengali brides look like the most beautiful version of themselves — not someone else.

I specialize in the details that matter to a Bengali wedding — hand-drawn chandan bindi (never stickers), traditional alta, proper Banarasi draping, and a base that survives from the shankha-pola ceremony at dawn to the last dance at the reception.

What Brides Say

Lasted 21 hours Wedding, South Kolkata

"Moumita didi understood exactly what a Bengali bride should look like. The chandan bindi was hand-drawn so perfectly, my thakuma said it reminded her of her own wedding. My makeup survived from 5 AM to 2 AM — through tears, sweat, and 47 relatives hugging me."

"I wanted a modern look but my mother-in-law wanted traditional. Moumita found the perfect balance — smokey eyes with a classic red lip and proper chandan. Both sides were happy, which is basically a miracle at a Bengali wedding."

"Booked the Sampurna package for gaye holud, wedding, and reception. Three completely different looks, all stunning. The gaye holud look actually survived the turmeric — I didn't believe it was possible until I saw it myself."

FAQ

Common Questions

How early do you arrive on the wedding day?
For a typical Bengali wedding with an 8–9 AM shubho drishti, I arrive at 4:30–5:00 AM. I need 2.5–3 hours for a full bridal look including chandan, alta, and saree draping. I'm always the first person at the venue.
Do you do chandan bindi and alta?
Yes — this is my specialty. I hand-draw the chandan designs (not stickers!) and apply traditional alta on hands and feet. I've practiced these specifically because they're what make a Bengali bride look authentic.
Can you drape a Banarasi saree?
Absolutely. I drape in the traditional Bengali style with the aanchal over the left shoulder and the signature front pleats. I've draped 500+ Banarasi sarees — your saree is safe with me.
Will my makeup survive the entire day?
Yes. I use an airbrush base with setting spray designed for 14+ hours. My brides regularly last from 5 AM through the reception at midnight. I also provide a touch-up kit with blotting sheets, setting spray, and your lip colour.
What if I want a trial but I'm not sure about booking?
Trials are included in all bridal packages. If you want a standalone trial before committing, it's ₹3,000 — which gets adjusted against the package if you book. No pressure, no hard sell.
Do you travel outside Kolkata?
Yes — I regularly do destination Bengali weddings in Shantiniketan, Digha, Mandarmani, and even Goa/Rajasthan. Travel and accommodation are added to the package. I provide a detailed quote based on location.
What about my mother and bridesmaids?
The Bridal Party package covers them at ₹10,000/person (10% off for 3+). I bring an assistant for groups of 4+. Everyone gets quality lashes and long-wear base — no one gets a "lesser" version.
I'm worried about looking "too done up" — can you do subtle?
This is actually my most common request. I specialize in the "you but glowing" look. During the trial, we'll find your comfort level. Many of my brides' guests say "she looks so natural!" — that's the highest compliment.
