Three generations of coffee and hospitality
1940 — Ravi's grandfather, a Kodava planter, built this bungalow on 12 acres of virgin forest. He cleared just enough for arabica coffee and pepper vines, leaving the jackfruit, rosewood, and silver oak untouched. The bungalow had 2 rooms, a kitchen with a wood-fire stove, and a verandah where he'd drink filter coffee at dawn.
1985 — Ravi's father added 2 more rooms and started hosting friends-of-friends who wanted to "see a real coffee estate." Word spread. By the 90s, they were hosting 3–4 families a month — no website, no booking, just phone calls and trust.
2012 — Ravi left his IT job in Bangalore and came home. He renovated the rooms (proper bathrooms, comfortable beds) but kept the soul — teak floors, antique furniture, Kaveri aunty's cooking. He added the treehouse because his daughter said "I want to sleep with the birds." Guests loved it. It's now the most booked room.
Today, Mist & Meadow is still a family home that happens to have guests. Ravi does the plantation walks. Kaveri (his mother) runs the kitchen. Meera (his wife) handles bookings and makes sure every room has fresh flowers. Their daughter Anika (12) will probably show your kids the secret waterfall trail.
